She grew as one, a perfect distance from the sun. In this day with the hustle and bustle of society, we are quick to forget that we belong to something greater than our loved ones. The Earth gave us everything we needed to grow. She raised us from apes and like a child leaving home, humans set out to be independent. Starting with simple agriculture, we moved from a nomadic life, dependent of her gifts, to a self sustained people. This ability to grow food allowed for populations to grow, and people to specialize on different things like art, tool making, and astronomical studies. Some people's jobs were more important than others, and so social class developed. This song takes me back, and so let us sleep outside tonight.

I like how you connected the Earth to everyone and how without it, we could not grow. Without her we would be nothing.
ReplyDeleteI've never really been a fan of The Dave Matthews Band but reading your post and listening to the song definitely changed my perspective. I appreciate the live performance they gave and how you connected the music to mother earth.
